Sneak peak: Resorts World Sentosa

Entrance to Universal Studios.

Is pale shade of turquoise a must color in every theme park?

Casino entrance.

Shopping street at Resorts World Sentosa.

I visited Resorts World Sentosa on last Sunday. Actually it was more like a visit to a building site since Universal Studios is still in testing and building stage and only few restaurants and shops were open. The hotels on the other hand were in operation.

As there has been a lot of fuzz about the new theme park and resort, I had high expectations to see place, which turned out to be a bit of a let down. Everything looked new and well-made, but I got a feeling I had seen many similar places before. The materials, architecture, colors and the overall look and feel were safe and ordinary. I would have hoped to see more futuristic and experimental touch. What I saw on Sunday did not differ much from the casinos in Macau or Disney World in Hong Kong.

Although my first expression of the Resorts World Sentosa was not stunning, I hope the place proofs me wrong once the resort is in full swing later this spring.
